In almost all cases yes. Finishing a basement adds living space and typically involves framing, electrical, and often plumbing and HVAC changes, all of which require permits and inspections. What are egress requirements, and will my basement need one?
An egress is a code-required emergency exit, usually a properly sized window and window well, that lets people get out and lets firefighters in. If your finished basement will include a bedroom or sleeping area, an egress is generally required, and adding one may involve cutting the foundation and installing a well. We assess your basement early so this is planned for rather than discovered mid-project.
How do you handle moisture and keep a finished basement dry?
Moisture control comes first, because finishing over a damp basement leads to mold and ruined finishes.
